Stuff

I don’t know about you but I am sick and tired of beating myself up about my “stuff”. Everybody’s got “stuff”. I’m sure Jesus and Buddha had “stuff”. Your guru (if you have one) has “stuff”. “Stuff” is a part of being human. It is what we created this place and these bodies to shine through. A lot of our worldly leaders who pretend not to have “stuff” are getting badly burned when their “stuff” finally shows up and is plastered all over the evening news.

I am a petty, angry, self-pitying, arrogant, insensitive, obsessive, crazy person who wants to be loved. I am also a magnificent, creative, compassionate, self-sufficient, loving, kind and decent man who stays true to his calling regardless of what anybody thinks of him. Both of these guys are hanging out in the same body.

I happen to believe (but can’t prove) that the last guy is a more accurate representation of my energetic essence (the vibration of Light), and this thought keeps me sane. This doesn’t mean that the first guy is “bad” or “evil”; he just came into being as a result of a bunch of conditioned responses to many wounds, both “real” and imagined. In the deepest sense, I understand that neither of these guys actually exists. They are both constructs, part of how we navigate this dimension. Even if you don’t believe that one guy is a better approximation of who we “really” are; I think you will have to admit that the second guy s a whole lot happier (and definitely much more fun to be around).

We all know about meditation and allowing the thoughts and emotions of guy #1 to pass through us. It seems to me that another way of consciously aligning with our energetic essence doesn’t get as much attention. I am referring to taking action which expresses that essence, that vibration of Light. Instead of fretting about all your awful (first guy) stuff; write a poem, sing a song, kiss your cat, hug your friend, go for a walk, relish a nice meal…express that essence into the world in the best way you can. Suddenly you may discover that your “stuff” was just that: a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with who you truly are.

Why continue to paralyze yourself with what was never real in the first place? The world trembles at all the so-called evil that exists within it, never realizing that we create and nurture it by focusing on it.

That is my rant for the day! Thanks for listening.
